Surprise promotion an event highlight
FARMVILLE, Va. (April 29, 2024) – Piedmont Senior Resources held its fourth annual employee award banquet on March 29 at the Robert Russa Moton Museum. The program included Directors and Staff Choice Awards along with recognition for Years of Service and a surprise promotion announcement for PSR’s Direct Care Service Coordinator Jamie Anderson.
Piedmont Senior Resources Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (PSR) provides supportive services and advocates for persons 60 years of age and older. The agency is a private, non-profit agency serving residents of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward Counties.
Since its organization in 1978, the primary goal of PSR has been to advocate, advance and achieve independence for the aging community.
“Our services are designed to help seniors lead independent lives, and remain safely in their homes,” PSR Executive Director Justine Young commented. “The success of PSR is a tribute to the highly motivated and competent team we have in place.”

- Brandon Akers — Rising Star Award
- Jamie Anderson — Leadership Award and Above and Beyond Award and Employee MVP

- Teamwork – Brandon Akers
- Above and Beyond – Michael Irving (Non-Emergency Medical Transport, NEMT)
- Most Organized – Mary Irving
- Most Creative – Laura Gaston
- Employee MVP – Tiffany Booker (Nutrition Staff)
- Above and Beyond — Nancy Saunders (Homemaker)
- Best Customer Service — Mattie Wiley – (Homemaker).
- PSR also recognized Years of Service for the following members of the team:
- Linda Bowler — 27 years (Homemaker Aide)
- Cynthia Bland — 15 years (Homemaker Aide)
- Latasha Monroe — 10 years (Homemaker Aide)
- Claire Furber — 8 years (Office Staff)
- SueEllen Stracke — 1 year (NEMT)
- Michael Jackson — 1 year (Nutrition)
- Edward Hatcher — 1 year (NEMT).
Following the awards, Jamie Anderson received a surprise promotion to Homemaker Program Manager.
“Receiving three awards was already such a gratifying experience, so when I learned about the promotion, I was absolutely thrilled and humbled,” Anderson said. “My new job as Homemaker Program Manager entails taking on more leadership responsibilities. I’ll be overseeing 24 Homemaker/Companion Aides and 30 Homemaker clients. Ultimately, my mission would be to improve the lives of seniors and their loved ones who depend on PSR.”
Anderson sees her promotion as an opportunity to make a positive impact on the staff of the Homemaker Program, which includes everything from housekeeping services to assistance with personal grooming.
“Bringing two people together from different walks of life and witnessing the bond that develops makes my heart smile,” Anderson said.
The executive director confirmed her pride in the current PSR team.
“It is always such a thrill to give out awards to this highly-motivated team, and this year I was excited to announce Jamie Anderson’s promotion. Jamie has been a consistent force at PSR for over 10 years. Her commitment is outstanding to the agency and the clients.”
